An Afternoon at the Valentine

Free for CSA Members

Join us for a delightful, informative afternoon of talk, tours, and refreshments at the Valentine Museum in Richmond, Virginia. Over the years CSA members have attended both national and regional meetings at the Valentine, featuring exhibitions from the museum’s outstanding costume and textile collection. Recently, this collection has undergone a shift from a collection of items with a Virginia history to a Richmond history focused collection, plus a multi-million-dollar comprehensive renovation of its storage and support areas.

Colleen Callahan, Kristen Stewart, and Nichol Gabor, the three curators who have successively overseen this collection since 1985, will give accounts about how the collection’s mission, composition, and its physical spaces have changed over time as a prelude to tours of the newly renovated storage and support areas. Plus, attendees will tour the exhibit, FANCY: Costumes, Characters and the Richmond Masque, with curator Nichol Gabor. Light refreshments will be served following the tours and there will be time for networking with your fellow CSA members. We will also have a meeting of all regional members who are interested in volunteering at the 2026 National Symposium in Charlotte, NC.

The Southeastern Region is sponsoring this program so that it free to CSA members and you may bring a guest.  Space is limited, and registration ends October 1, 2025. Visit our webpage for the schedule, registration details, and parking information!
