This month’s Dress & Drinks shines a spotlight on the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry’s recent exhibition, Crafting Character: The Costumes of Paul Tazewell, a vibrant exploration of how fashion becomes storytelling.
We are delighted to welcome Dr. Voula Saridakis, Head Curator at the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. Having served in numerous roles across museums throughout her career, Dr. Saridakis brings both depth and range to her curatorial work. She holds a BA in History from Cornell University and earned her MS and PhD in Science and Technology Studies from Virginia Tech, a field that examines how science, technology, and medicine shape, and are shaped by, society. That interdisciplinary perspective is central to her leadership at the Griffin Museum, where exhibitions illuminate the dynamic interplay between innovation, culture, and creativity.
Through the lens of Crafting Character, Dr. Saridakis will explore how costumes function as powerful storytelling tools and communicate character and emotion without a single word. In the hands of Paul Tazewell, clothing becomes narrative, blending artistry and technology in ways that deepen our understanding of both fashion and science.
Join us for an evening of style, conversations, and community as we explore stories and characters that shape our world.
